Near Misses in Mushroom Mesa

Eclipse and Todd are at the palace meditating when her datapad starts blowing up with notifications - just as Todd begins to fully meditate.

Frustrated, Eclipse huffs, “What the kriff is all that!?”

RACE RACE RACE! MEET ON MUSHROOM MESA!

Excitedly, Eclipse hops up from the floor and calls her sister, Moonshine, in to take over helping Todd with his meditation as she rushes down the Grand Hallway.

As she enters the Survey Station, Corsh tosses the keys behind his back to her without looking. Eclipse snatches the keys out of midair as she hops into her pod.

Mushroom Mesa is the site of various races both large and small. The starting line of the race is lit by massive bonfires. Tatooine's second sun begins to set as the racers line up.

Hearts pounding in anticipation, engines revving. The race starts! All the pods lurch forward as the pilots hit the gas. John has a slow start and pushes his pod hard to speed up. His windshield shorts out and he suddenly has dirt and exhaust flying in his face. Mini has one engine fire harder than the other and veers off course.

Eclipse makes her way to the front of the pack. As she moves up to the edge of the mesa and prepares for the drop she tries to do an altitude hop to give her more distance. She doesn’t quite make the jump right and is headed straight for some boulders. In her panic and fear she reaches out to the force and finds the darkside waiting there for her. She grasps it and pushes her pod away from the danger and moves further ahead in the race.

As the rest of the racers start to come over the lip of the mesa, Eclipse pulls further ahead. Several of the other racers seem to be having some serious issues as they push their pods harder and harder to catch up. John’s forward shield is now shooting massive amounts of sparks into his face.

The Nightsister attempts the altitude jump that Eclipse did and slams the bottom of her pod into a boulder on her way down busting her shield generator.

Memni, while trying to navigate the difficult slope and surrounding boulders, clips a boulder hard and takes massive damage to one of her engines. She is out of the race unless she can repair the damage.

Eclipse easily maneuvers through the canyon at the bottom of the mesa and comes flying at full speed into the krayt dragon graveyard.

Eclipse reaches out with the force while flying through the skeletons of krayt dragons and can sense a faster way through this part of the race. She pilots her pod through the eye socket of an extremely large skull and then ramps off a rib cage to take a commanding lead over the rest of the racers.

She lands another victory, placing first ahead of Zeth in second and a Tuskan Raider in third.

When Eclipse arrives home and goes to check on Todd’s meditation she finds him poking Moonshine in the head with a floating pebble. He grins at Eclipse foolishly before running off to bed.
